The iPhone maker has reportedly tested dozens of prototypes already and has recently reached out to Taiwanese suppliers to begin the manufacturing of Apple Car components in the second quarter of the next year. Apple believes everything would be finalized by the third quarter when the car is finally projected to make its first public appearance ever.
If this is true, the fall of 2021 is expected to be quite busy for Apple. The company is first expected to unveil the new-generation iPhones in September (on schedule this time, with no delays likely), followed by new Apple Watch models, iPads, and MacBooks in October and November.
On the other hand, it’s very important to take this report with a healthy pinch of salt, as Ming Chi Kuo, one of the most reliable Apple analysts out there, previously said the Apple Car wouldn’t see daylight sooner than 2023. He believes the project would reach mass production in three to five years, especially as Apple is currently in talks with TSMC over a potential chip to power a self-driving car.
For the time being, however, Apple has remained completely tight-lipped on Project Titan, and there’s a chance you won’t hear the company say a single word about it until the official launch takes place.
But even if this report isn’t accurate, it’s another indication the Apple Car project lives on, and sooner or later, it’d still see the daylight.
